THE FULL MENU
The Chinese food menu Edinburgh orders from
What people ask for is a Chinese food menu Edinburgh can order from without guessing. Here is ours: 174 dishes, thirty-six sections, roast meats through to dry pots and iced milk tea. All prices include VAT. If it is on this page, the kitchen cooks it.

A Chinese food menu Edinburgh can eat its way through
Our menu is long because our customers are not all the same. Students come in for won ton noodle soup and a plate of salt and pepper chips. Families order a whole duck and four dishes down the middle. Somebody on the way to a show wants beef ho fun and nothing else, and somebody else wants the hottest thing we cook. One list has to hold all of them, so it does.
It is organised the way a Hong Kong kitchen thinks. Roast meats and rice first, because that is lunch. Then soups and starters, then the wok: chow mein, fried rice, foo yung, sweet and sour. Further in you reach the Szechuan and Hunan cooking, the dry pots, and the whole fish. We built a Chinese food menu Edinburgh can use every week rather than once a year.
Prices include VAT. The chilli markers run from one to four and they mean what they say. Ask for the Chinese names if that is what you know. They are printed next to the English. Please let us know of any food allergies before you order and we will tell you honestly what is in a dish.
The roast meats, and why they run out
Start with the duck. Hong Kong style roast duck is £17 on its own, £23 for half a bird or £46 for the whole one, carved with the skin on. Aromatic crispy duck is the other one people come for, £22 for half and £40 for the whole, with pancakes, leeks, cucumber and hoisin. Both are worth the mess.
Char siu is the barbecue pork, glazed with honey and sliced over rice for £15.50. The poached chicken is corn fed and cooked on the bone, £17 for a half and £34 for a whole, served the way Hong Kong serves it rather than fridge cold. We also sell it as fragrant poached chicken with rice at £15.50.
Roast meats are the first thing to go. They are made in batches through the day and when a batch is finished, it is finished. Turn up at eight on a Saturday and the duck may have beaten you to it. Worth knowing before you set your heart on it. The kitchen also does char siu and roast duck together for £16.50, for people who cannot choose between them. That is most people.
Roast duck Hong Kong style, £17, or half £23 and whole £46.
Aromatic crispy duck, half £22 or whole £40, with pancakes and hoisin.
Honey char siu with rice, £15.50.
Fragrant poached chicken, half £17 or whole £34.
Four chillies, and how to eat around them
Four chillies on our menu is not a dare, it is a warning. The ChongQing chicken at £19.50 comes with a bowl of dried chillies you are meant to eat around. Sliced fish in chilli oil, £20.50, is the hottest thing in the kitchen. Mapo tofu at £15.50 is gentler than it looks and still not gentle.
If nobody at the table wants heat, order the lemon chicken, the sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style at £15.50, or the rice baked with pork chop, tomato and cheese. That one is a Hong Kong cafe dish and it costs £16.50. Nobody at a table of four ever agrees on spice, so put the rice in the middle and let people help themselves.
A dry pot of beef brisket, £22.50, sits in between and arrives still cooking. The Xinjiang chicken stew at £20.50 is what regulars order when they want something they cannot get elsewhere on the bridge. The point of a Chinese food menu Edinburgh can share is that one hot dish does not spoil the table. The menu is not a test. Tell us if a dish is too much and we will sort you out.
Banana fritters, red bean ice, milk tea
Pudding is not an afterthought. Banana fritters, £4.90, are deep fried and dusted with sugar, and they have converted more than one person who claimed to be full. Red bean ice, £5.90, is the Hong Kong answer to a dessert and a drink at the same time.
Tea is £2.95 a pot whether you take jasmine, Iron Goddess or Pu Er. Hong Kong milk tea is £3.95, iced lemon tea the same, and a Tsing-Tao is £4.95. The wine list is short and starts at £19.95 a bottle, with a glass of the house red or white for £5.95.
The drinks list is where the Hong Kong side shows most. Three Chinese teas by the pot, milk tea, iced lemon tea, and a wine list that stops at red, white and rose. Coffee and English tea are £2.95 if you would rather finish with what you know. Nobody is going to be intimidated by it.
We do not rush the end of a meal. Order a milk tea, sit a bit longer, and let the table settle. Every price on this page includes VAT, in the room and over the phone.
Common questions
Questions we get asked
Can I order the full menu online?
The whole list is available for dine in and collection. The delivery apps sometimes run a shorter version of it. If you want something specific, ring 0131 563 9054 and we will tell you whether it is going that day before you set off.
Do your prices include VAT?
Every price on the printed menu includes VAT, in the restaurant and over the phone. Delivery apps add their own fees at checkout, because those are set by the app rather than by us. Nothing else is added to your bill at the table.
What do the chilli symbols mean?
One chilli is a warm dish, four is the hottest thing we cook. The count is printed beside each dish so you can order with your eyes open. If you want the heat lowered, tell us when you order and the kitchen will do what it can.
Is there a proper vegetarian choice?
More than one dish, which is not always the case. Salt and pepper tofu, vegetarian spring rolls, aubergines Yuxiang style, stir fried pak choi with garlic and sweet and sour mixed vegetables are all on the menu. Tell us when you order and we will point you at what suits.
How do I find out what is in a dish?
Please let us know of any food allergies when you order and we will check the dish with the kitchen before it goes on. Some sauces and marinades are prepared in advance, so the earlier you tell us, the more we can do about it.
