Restaurant gift vouchers Edinburgh can spend on duck and a pot of tea rather than another scarf. We arrange them at the counter or over the phone, and whoever receives one can use it on whatever they like from the menu.

Restaurant gift vouchers Edinburgh can actually spend
Restaurant gift vouchers Edinburgh cannot buy from a checkout, because we make them up by hand. Tell us the amount you want on it and we will do the rest. There is no set denomination, which is usually better anyway, because you can ask what the voucher covers before you buy it.
We do them at the counter during opening hours, or over the phone on 0131 563 9054. You can collect it the same day if you are nearby, or we can talk about getting it to you if you are not.
What we do not do is sell a voucher that only works on certain days or dishes. It is a credit against the menu, and the menu is the same one every day.
That is the whole scheme. No small print beyond the practical bits, which we will go through when you order.
Who they suit
The person who has everything. The neighbour who fed your cat for a fortnight. A teacher at the end of term. Somebody at work who did you a favour and will not take money.
They also work for people who already know the restaurant, which is a different thing entirely. A regular who gets a voucher will spend it on the duck they were going to order anyway, and be pleased about it.
Christmas, birthdays, leaving presents, and the awkward week in January when nobody can think of anything. A voucher is not a thrilling object to unwrap, but it is a good evening, and the evening is the point.
If you are buying several, tell us and we will sort them in one go.
Using a voucher at the table
Bring it with you and hand it over when you order, or at the end when the bill comes. Either is fine. The person serving you will know what to do with it, and if they do not, the counter will.
It can go against food or drink, including the set dishes and the specials, and the prices are the menu prices with VAT already in them. You do not need to book to use one, though booking is a good idea on a Friday either way.
If you are using it towards a meal for two and it does not cover the whole bill, you pay the difference by card or cash. If it covers more than the meal, tell us at the time and we will explain what happens next.
Anything unusual about your voucher, ring us before you come in and we will check it. It takes a minute and avoids an awkward moment at the end.
If it is for someone who has never been
Tell them to order the aromatic crispy duck. Half a bird is £22 and a whole one £40, and it comes with pancakes, leeks, cucumber and hoisin. It is the dish that explains the restaurant in one go.
Where we are: 45 South Bridge, two minutes down from the Royal Mile, six minutes from Waverley. The door is easy to miss, so look for the doorway rather than the sign.
The hours are noon until half nine, every day, which means lunch is as good a time to use it as dinner and the room is quieter at noon.
One more thing worth passing on: there is no need to dress up. Nobody here has ever been turned away for wearing a coat.
Ordering one
Restaurant gift vouchers Edinburgh can order in one phone call: ring 0131 563 9054 during opening hours, or email jimmyexpress888@gmail.com if you are not in a hurry. At the counter is quickest because we can write it out while you wait.
Tell us the amount, the name you would like on it, and whether you want anything written on the back. If it is a present, we will make sure it looks like one rather than like a receipt.
Payment is by cash or card, and the voucher is issued once it is paid for. If you need it for a specific date, say so when you order rather than the morning of.
One last thing. If you are buying for someone who cannot get to South Bridge easily, tell us and we will talk through the options rather than sell you something they cannot use.
Common questions
Questions we get asked
Can I buy a gift voucher online?
Not at the moment. Vouchers are arranged at the counter or over the phone on 0131 563 9054. It means you can ask questions and we can make sure the amount and the details are right, which is harder to do through a checkout.
What can a voucher be spent on?
Food and drink from the menu, at any time we are open. It is not restricted to certain days or set dishes. Prices are the normal menu prices, with VAT already included, so the value on the voucher is the value you get.
How long is a voucher valid for?
We will confirm the validity when you buy it, because it should be written on the voucher rather than assumed. If you have one already and you are unsure, ring 0131 563 9054 with the details and we will tell you where it stands.
Can I use a voucher for collection or delivery?
Vouchers are for eating in the restaurant. For collection, pay at the counter as usual, or order through HungryPanda. Delivery runs through Uber Eats and Deliveroo, and those apps have their own payment methods and their own vouchers.
Can I buy a voucher as a work present?
Yes, and people do. Tell us how many you need and the amount on each, and give us a bit of notice if there are a lot of them. Ring 0131 563 9054 or email jimmyexpress888@gmail.com and we will arrange it.
