The Jimmy's Express accessibility statement: what works on this site, where it falls short, how to get the menu read aloud or in large print, and who to ring.

Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement covers this website and what we can tell you about visiting Jimmy's Express at 45 South Bridge. We are working towards WCAG 2.2 AA, we know the site is not there yet, and we would rather hear about a problem than have you struggle with one quietly.
What this accessibility statement covers
The site is run by the restaurant at 45 South Bridge, Edinburgh, Midlothian, EH1 1LL. Our target is WCAG 2.2 AA, the standard that sets out how to make a website work for people using screen readers, keyboards, magnification and speech software. We are not claiming full compliance, because we are not there yet.
This accessibility statement covers every page of this site, the booking form, the enquiry form and the contact details. It does not cover the Uber Eats and Deliveroo apps, which are separate products run by those companies under their own accessibility work.
If you find something you cannot use, the last section says who to contact. A real person reads it, a real person answers, and we would rather be told than not told.
Reading the menu and getting help
Ring 0131 563 9054 and we will read the menu to you, dish by dish, with the prices and the chilli levels. Nobody will sigh. We can also send the menu as plain text or in large print if that is easier, and we do not charge for doing it.
In the restaurant, tell a member of staff what you need and they will help, whether that is reading something aloud, describing a dish, carrying a plate or finding you a quieter table. Asking when you book gives us the best chance of arranging it properly.
If the online booking through RESV is difficult to use, ring instead and we will take the booking over the phone. The same goes for the enquiry form. Phone and email work just as well, and nobody minds which you choose.
Visiting, and telling us what is wrong
We are not going to guess in writing about step-free access at 45 South Bridge, because a wrong answer wastes a journey. Ring 0131 563 9054 before you visit and we will describe the entrance, the doorway, the room and the way to the toilets exactly as they are, so you can decide.
Assistance dogs are always welcome. If you need a particular table or more room, tell us when you book and we will do what we can rather than seat you and hope. The site is still being improved: some parts fall short, including the PDF menu, the embedded map and a few older photographs with thin descriptions.
Tell us about anything that does not work by emailing jimmyexpress888@gmail.com or ringing the same number. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can advise. This accessibility statement is reviewed whenever the site changes.
Common questions
Questions we get asked
Is there step-free access at 45 South Bridge?
Ring 0131 563 9054 before you visit and we will describe the entrance, the doorway, the room and the route to the toilets exactly as it is. We would rather answer that on the phone than put a guess on a website and have you find out the hard way.
Can you send the menu in large print?
Yes. Email jimmyexpress888@gmail.com or ring 0131 563 9054 and tell us what you need. We can send a plain text version, a large print version, or read the whole menu to you over the phone, prices and chilli levels included. There is no charge.
Is this website fully accessible?
Not yet, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise. WCAG 2.2 AA is the target and some parts fall short, including the PDF menu and the embedded map. Tell us what does not work at jimmyexpress888@gmail.com and we will fix what we can.
